What’s changed in the new PS5 revision?
The new PS5 revision features the following changes:
- Smaller and lighter design: The new PS5 is slightly smaller and lighter than the original model. It measures 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (15.35in x 4.09in x 10.24in) and weighs 3.9kg (8.59lbs) for the standard model and 3.4kg (7.5lbs) for the Digital Edition.
- Additional USB port.
- Removable disc drive: The updated PS5 features a removable disc drive, which can be easily attached and detached. Is will also be sold separately, so in theory, Digital Edition could be easily expanded.
- Stand is now being sold separately for both editions.
- Cover plates have been changed.
It is important to note that the new PS5 revision does not offer any performance improvements over the original model. It plays the same games at the same performance. However, the smaller size, lighter weight, removable disc drive, and improved cooling are all welcome changes.
What does this mean for gaming?
The short answer is: not much. The new PS5 revision plays the same games at the same performance as the original model. The only difference is that it’s slightly smaller, lighter, and quieter.
